Authority LinkBuilding! What and How..

As many of you guys have read somewhere or have been told by some SEO guru that you should build authority links(however nobody tell you from where to get that damn authority link). So lets talk bout what exactly is authority link or how can you classify a link as an authority link.

authority link building ideas

An authority link is a backlink from a site already trusted by Google in terms of trust rank or hub rank in topic sensitive page rank. Its a factor of Google Algorithm, in which once a web site is detected to be an authority, it will get more visibility in SERP’s on related or even non-relatd words. Read here the full documentation by Google regarding this.

Google consider these sites as an authority in there related niches or in general. And a link from these websites considered to be an authority link. For example Wikipedia is an authority site in Google’s eye. If you succeed to get a link from there, then this link of yours will be termed as an authority link for your website. What the advantage of authority links?

A huge boost in your ranking, increase in your own site trust level. What else you want honey!!

Now many of us think or assume that only a site with .edu or .gov tld can be an authority which is not correct by any mean. Take again t he example of Wikipedia. It don’t have any .edu .or .giv tld but still Google consider it as an authority. Yahoo.com .. a simple .com domain but Google gives sufficient importance to anything coming fromt his domain. (lets forget MSN for some time :P)

But gaining links from these sources can be a real pain in ass. Although you have read at many big players blog’s that ask by sending en email to some student and he will be happily place your link at his or her blog; but trust me here, its like 1 out of 100 person that will actually reply your email and that reply will be not so encouraging. For big name its easy to get links from these sources as people are fame addicted. Once they see that this person is popular in its industry, they gonna accept everything from him, never mind it will be truth or just some stupid personnel thought. And once they get an email from that person they will be in OMG condition fro several days…bragging bout there mail at there blog or website. So what to do to get links from trusted sources for a blog or websites which is somewhat new?

I will tell you one very simple way to get links from Wikipedia. And if that link won’t remain there then believe me some Wikipedia editor is just jealous of you. So what you have to do is simply make a list of all the manufacturer’s/authorities/sources/references/glossaries etc website in your niche. Lets say you have an auto related website. Make a list of all the auto manufacturers and categorize it regionally. Here is an example of that list

Asian Automobiles Manufacturers
Name: Suzuki
(A little description goes here of two lines)
Url: www.company-domain.com

Once completed, you can submit its link on Wikipedia under the related article. Once it get stable there, that link will not only give you many backlinks but also more visitors and obviously , an increment in SERP’s ranking.

Try this list idea and you will be amazed with the results. Moreoever its not like some niche restricted, you can do it in any industry with different types of list.

i dont get it. how can making a page about automanufacturers get YOU, a related site have an authorative link? and in any case as its a wiki article wont all your competition quickly add themselves to the list too negating the links effectiveness

Guys, wikipedia links are nofollowed and hence worthless for link building. For you to recommend wikipedia spam as an SEO tactic is pathetic. I’m going to blog on you guys about this and expose your ignorance.

  4. Bill Cook Says:

Wikipedia has been nofollowing their links for some time now. This strategy wont provide any benefit.

Does “No Follow” affect Trust Rank.

  6. admin Says:

No follow is just to stop PAGERANK flow..AGAIN JUST PAGERANK…It still passes link value and count as a backlink..I think its quite old news but still some people think they are smarter :)

@ Foster are you sure you exactly know the definition of SPAM? You are putting a link of a list that has some real value as you have to do some research to compile it. How come it can be categorized as SPAM ???

    @mark!
Think about it as an idea. You have a list of all the manufacturers. Search for an article on wikipedia regarding auto manufacturers. Don’t you think your list will be the best option to link to?

A clean and honest way to get into wikipedia is through the media commons section. Submit a relevant image to a topic relevant to your business.

    It works wonders

    Preventing comment spam

If you’re a blogger (or a blog reader), you’re painfully familiar with people who try to raise their own websites’ search engine rankings by submitting linked blog comments like “Visit my discount pharmaceuticals site.” This is called comment spam, we don’t like it either, and we’ve been testing a new tag that blocks it. From now on, when Google sees the attribute (rel=”nofollow”) on hyperlinks, those links won’t get any credit when we rank websites in our search results. This isn’t a negative vote for the site where the comment was posted; it’s just a way to make sure that spammers get no benefit from abusing public areas like blog comments, trackbacks, and referrer lists.

I am not sure what you are trying to say here, NOFOLLOW has been invented at first to stop blog comment spamming; its goal was to stop PR flow, TRUST FLOW and Anchor Text power flow.
At some point Google was leaking those with NOFOLLOW but not anymore.
If you think Google still pass some juice through NOFOLLW links from authority site like Wikepedia that could be understandable but I would disagree that search engine still pass any SEO value with any DOFLLOW links.
Finally check your blog with IE, the Sphin box height is taking over some comments

@ Kevin Google says many thing apparently and do you believe they all come true? Like they said they have a system to detect Paid Links but all they do is ban small business website..Seoroundtable.com still has paid links in its left bar…why Google didn’t penalize it? Cause its Danny’s Site :P

I think if you build your business online utilizing all aspects on a regular basis the authority links will occur over time naturally.

  13. Hmm Says:

This may have been added as a strategy for link building but if it provides a useful addition to the Wikipedia page then it is worth it. Useful additions of knowledge to any thing is what the internet should be about. If you can do this in a way that you get a bit of recognition benefit then that is OK even if that recognition is not all the link juice and trust that you would like.

  14. Referencement Says:

This is a good idea, not only will it bring in trafic but it will also bring in backlinks from other sources than wikipedia.
