Quality Link Building! How to Evaluate Backlinks?

Off Page SEO or Off Page Optimization majorly revolves around Link Building. Yeah I can hear most of you guys yelling that Branding, Credibility etc. also comes in that but how the hell you gonna do it without mentioning your website. And on internet, mentioning your website means linking back to your website. Right?

So, building backlinks is not a big issue in most of the cases. All you need is to know the way how to ask for a link. I recently succeeded to convince some of those paid review blog owners to post a review of one of our client site for free. Now don’t ask me how?

But the problem is having a backlink is not what we try, We seek quality backlinks. IMHO a quality backlink is the backlink which can add some value, whether it be visitor or ranking, to your website. But the problem is how come you know that this is the link that can be termed as quality link? So here are some factors which on completion can make your back link, a quality backlink.

Anchor Text
Now, this is the most important factor in link building. Anchor text is the text that you click on to activate and follow a hyperlink to another web page or another web site. Here are some tips that you can follow to get the most of this factor.

  1. Use your keywords(both primary and secondary)
  2. Don’t use only one Anchor text. Use 3 to 5 anchor text randomly.

Relevance Of A Linking Page To Your Page
This factor shares the same importance as anchor text do. Having a link from the same topic website or web page as per your website topic should be your first priority.

Link Position On A Linking Page
Ok, so we have 5 anchor text now and also got some relevance web pages. But there is still something that need to be addressed. yes, Link Position. A question can raise here Why Placement Of Link is so Important? After all, our purpose is to get a backlink from other site. Well, unfortunately that’s not the scenario anymore. Previously this theory was true but now its not any more. Traditional places like Navigation, Link Exchange Page, Resources, Blog Rolls etc now can be spotted by Search Engines specially Google. And when they find links on these traditional places, they lower the score of that link. So, what is the best place of Link? Well right after content or within content are the two great places to have links. When spider found a link after reading two paragraphs over a topics, the link is highly important to it.

Hosting Server IP

This factor is still in our experimental phase, but the theory is that a link from the same IP is given low weight when compared to a link coming from a different IP.

Domain TLD
Well, this is an MOST important factor as Google DO give special attention to links coming from .edu and .gov as well as .org tld.

Age Of Linking Page And Site
The Age of the web page from where the link is coming as well as the age of site DO matters when talking bout an effective backlink.

Age Of Link
Well, how much old a link is another thing that Google consider when evaluating a back-link.

Except these, there are also some other factors which you may consider when doing link building like how much links pointing to that source from where you are getting yours link, is that webpage ranks for the term it supposed to be etc etc.

Sure, when doing link building and evaluating a link on these factors, consumes a lot of your time and may be you can only succeed to get 10 to 15 quality back links daily at max but then the value of these build backlinks links will be higher than those 100 links from article directories.

Link Popularity, Link Spamming And Link Building

An active and ongoing link building campaign should be part of every website’s SEO strategy. Why? Cause you are not the only person doing that business on the internet. There are thousands of people on the web doing exactly the same business like yours. Sure, you don’t have to continue looking for sites to request links from, but you should spend your time on link building once the site development and designing phase get finished. It is just as important as indexing your site in the engines and maybe more as the engines will find you if you’re well linked to but may drop you from there index if you’re not.

What Is Link Popularity?

Link popularity or link popularity building is a general term which means that how many other websites are linking to yours. But this is not it. They move forward by looking what type of content those sites contain even that how many sites link to them i.e. their self link popularity and what was the anchor text in their link to your site says.

Search Engines score your website based on this information. Sure there is a lot that come into consideration when Search Engine ranks some website but the important thing to remember here is that it’s not the quantity of inbound links but the quality of the websites linking to you, and how relevant they are to your website. There are thousand of those premium link directories out there that can boost your link popularity.

What is link spamming?

Link spamming is a process to artificially inflate or increase your link popularity. There are a variety of ways to do this. For example those highly visible link farms, where hundreds of websites have the same links page on which they all, regardless of their site’s content, link to each other to web logging to creating loads of mini websites just for the purpose of linking them to your main website.

But remember that Search Engines are now able to discover this and can penalize or ban websites for using these methods. If you secure inbound links on informative sites you are going to get qualified traffic as well as ranking whereas link farms or web logging won’t bring you any.
